TANGO Network – PhD Research Position (Task 2.2)

Task 2.2 – Analytical study of laminar dump combustor

Supervisor: Dr Maria Heckl,
Host: Keele University, Department of Mathematics, UK.

Task 2.2 of the TANGO Network forms the theoretical counterpart to task 2.1. The G-equation will be solved analytically to predict the rate of heat release. This will provide the source term in the acoustic analogy equation, which will be solved with a Green’s function approach. Thus the acoustic field in the laminar dump combustor will be predicted analytically. Two forms of validation are envisaged: (i) comparison of the analytical results for the heat release with the numerical results from task 1.2; (ii) comparison of the analytical results of the sound field with that measured in task 2.1.
